Zhedong Dazhuhai 浙东大竹海 known as East Zhejiang Grand Bamboo Sea is located in Ningbo Yinzhou district 鄞州区, Hengjie town 横街镇, Dalei village大雷村. It is the largest single concentration area of bamboo forests in China. Like other natural scenic areas in Ningbo surroundings, such as Five Dragon Pools, Zhedong Xiaojiuzhai, Fuquan Mountain and others, it is not very far from Ningbo downtown. East Zhejiang Grand Bamboo Sea is accessible by public bus. You need around 40min to get there from the city center.
The scenic area that is accessible to tourists is not very big itself. You will spend maximum of 3 hours there. The hiking trail will take you around 40min to an hour with all stops and photos. Even so short, it was beautiful and worthwhile to visit. There are hammocks and swings in the area, so you can just have a chill in the nature.
As for those searching for adrenaline you can try the cable ride, rafting or speed slide. There is a place to have a barbecue too. These are usually very popular among Chinese people. The day I visited, area was quite empty, until I reached the barbecue place. Everyone was there!
Admission: 40RMB
