The Cixi Dapeng Mountain

Only 40min drive from the Ningbo city center, there lies a Dapeng Mountain 达蓬山located in Cixi 慈溪. There are three main scenic spots at Cixi Dapeng Mountain that are popular tourist sites- Buddha Valley 仙佛谷, Xufu Cultural Park 徐福文化公园 and Huanhu Amusement park 环游地球.

Huanhua Amusement park is a World Natural and Cultural Theme Park. You will see a lot of World famous sites’ replicas there, such as Statue of Liberty, The great Sphinx and others.

If you are not in these kind of things, then a hike at Dapeng Mountain will be a better choice. You can walk to the top of mountain and enjoy the sight of the Cixi City. There is a Foji temple which is under construction now, but still accessible to tourists. You will be able to see also Jiulong Lake from the top.

Xufu Cultural Park

The most famous spot is probably Xufu Cultural Park. The story of Xufu is very famous among Chinese. According to historian Sima Qian, Xufu, a famous sorcerer in Qin dynasty was sent by an emperor Yingzheng to look for an elixir of life. Xufu didn’t return to the emperor’s court. Instead of returning, he escaped to Ningbo’s Xiangshan County. It is believed that Xufu’s fleet reached modern day Japan. The Dapeng Mountain was his departure point. There are inscriptions left related to the tale, which are considered to be a proof of sailings to Japan. It is believed that Xufu introduced different aspects of Chinese culture in Japan, which influenced the development of Japanese culture. There are numerous tales and stories about Xufu in Japan and Korea too. For those who are interested in history and culture, there is a nice museum at Dapeng mountain Xufu Cultural Park.

Foji Temple

The park is not very large; you will need no more than 2hours to visit Dapeng Mountain Xufu Cultural park and Foji Temple.
