Ningbo is not only a modern and developed city, but also a green city surrounded by mountains. Some of the scenic areas are located very close and are easily accesible by public transport. Below I have selected some of my favorite spots. 

Siming Mountain Geological park located in Yuyao is one of the most beautiful mountain areas to visit. Fresh air, magnificent mountian views, a lot of hiking options and many more are perfect for those who want to escape busy city life and have a day out in nature.

Dapeng Mountain is located in Cixi, about half an hour drive from the city center. Most popular attractions there are Xufu Cultural park and Foji Temple.

Jiufeng Mountain in Ningbo Beilun district is a very popular scenic area amongst Chinese tourists. If you walk farther away, you can escape the crowds.

Climbing the Jiufeng peak was pretty tiring, but totally worth it. You get the best views from the top

Siming Lake. You will need about an hour to get there by car.

Siming Lake surrounded by Siming Mountains is a resort area. You can stay in a hotel right next to the lake, and have some very beautiful views.

Wulei Mountain is also located in Cixi. It was a famous scenis spot already in Song Dynasty. Back then it was considered a good place to return to nature, mountains and rivers.

No wonder it was considered as a good place to see green mountains and nature. A walk in the forest is trully refreshing.

Yangmei or red bayberries. You will see plenty of them in Wulei Mountain.

Wulongtan or Five Dragon Pools, also a very popular area. You might see more tourists there than other scenic spots. If you choose to visit on weekdays then it can be pretty empty.
