White Deer village – viewing platform – Ningbo Simingshan ( Siming Mountains)

Summer is approaching and the weather is getting hotter. Therefore, I am trying to go out as often as possible and discover more outdoor destinations. Hiking enthusiasts will love the opportunities that Ningbo offers. There are mountains all around, and developed hiking trails and scenic spots. In this post I will introduce Ningbo Simingshan White Deer Village which I visited recently.

People always ask me how I find all these places (even local Chinese sometimes are surprised). It is my passion and hobby to explore and visit beautiful natural landscapes, and I keep finding all those gems.
Initially I was just planning to visit White Deer Village viewing platform. However, scenery on the way along the mountain road was even better. The small mountain villages are absolutely stunning and worth visiting.

White Deer Village – location

White Deer Village or 白鹿村 is located in mountain area of South Yuyao, boarding on Haishu district 海曙区 and Dalan town 大岚镇. It covers an area of 10.4 square kilometers and is combined of seven villages.

This viewing platform was the main reason I visited Bailucun (White Deer village). It is even honored as “The most beautiful viewing platform in Siming mountain”. It surely didn’t disappoint me, the views were amazing. Something similar as in Siming Mountain Geological park. The altitude of platform is about 600m above sea level. In 2015 it was awarded as one of top ten viewing platforms in Siming mountain area of Ningbo.
Platform is prefect for watching clouds and sunrise due to the unique terrain and facing southeast. April and May are also one of the best times to visit, because flowers are blooming and cherry trees are especially beautiful.

Besides viewing platform there is also a tourist trail in the forest, which goes up-and- down the mountain. When you reach the bottom, you will see couple of waterfalls and bamboo groves on the way. It was not very long; maybe around half an hour to get down, though the climb up was pretty steep and tiring.

Getting to Ningbo Simingshan White Deer Village

The White Deer Village is quite far from Ningbo city center. It might take at least hour and half by car. There are not many options for public transport, so the best choice would be going by taxi or renting a car. Enter 白鹿狮峰观景台 in navigation. The name and location is correct in map, it will drive you to the right place.
